He was born in Panama City on January 21, 1967. Here, he studied elementary school and part of high school and then moved to the city of San José, Costa Rica, where he completed his university studies graduating with honors of Medicine. In this same country, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery were studied; he also manages to graduate with the highest honors from these.

Throughout his training and up to the present, Dr. Poveda Xatruch has distinguished himself for his humanitarian aid, charisma, and great teaching capacity, which has earned him great appreciation among the medical community in the region.

Dr. Poveda Xatruch is always active, traveling to courses and rotations in various countries such

as the USA; Italy; Argentina; México; and Brazil, to always keep up to date and try to bring the latest techniques of the specialty.

Dr. Poveda was the pioneer in Central America in the technique of body remodeling known as Smartlipo or Laserlipolysis, which has become a point of reference for colleagues, with whom he shares his experiences through talks and training to other doctors in the region. He is also an active member of the Costa Rican Association of Plastic Surgery (ACCPRE), and, at the international level, of the Ibero-Latin American Federation of Plastic Surgery (FILACP), International Confederation for Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (IPRAS), International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), and the International Society of Plastic Regenerative Surgery (ISPRES).
